ABSTRACT

Background/ Purpose

technique of this procedure for correction of incomplete penoscrotal transposition.

Patients and Methods

Results: severe oedema developed in 6 patients of group 1 but mild oedema developed in 3 patients of group 2 after the first stage of correction. Urethrocutaneous fistulas and meatal stenosis developed after the second stage (urethroplasty).

Conclusion: A modified technique of the Glenn-Anderson procedure a simple technique for correction of incomplete penoscrotal transposition with better cosmetic and functional results. Key words: incomplete penoscrotal transposition, the Glenn-Anderson procedure

INTRODUCTION:

Penoscrotal transposition is an uncommon anomaly of external gentalia resulting in complete or incomplete positional exchange between the penis and scrotum. It may be associated with severe chordee and hypospadias as well as other anomalies as renal defects, imperforate anus, central nervous system anomalies and vertebral defects (1-4). The aetiology of penoscrotal transposition remains uncertain but related anomaly, bifid scrotum, has been well established as a phenotype of the partial androgen insensitivity syndrome (4). Incomplete penoscrotal transposiltion is commoner than complete form. Surgical treatment is based on the severity of transposition and associated hypospadias. Two-stage procedure is frequently used for incomplete form first stages is used for correction of penoscrotal transposition and 2nd stage for correction of hypospadias (5). The Glenn-Anderson procedure is widely used technique for correction incomplete penoscrotal transposition (6). The aim of this study is evaluation of a modified technique of the Glenn-Anderson procedure for correction incomplete penoscrotal transposition.

: twenty patients with incomplete penoscrotal transposition were included and divided in this study (10 for each). These patients were corrected by the GlennAnderson procedure for group I but group 2 was corrected by a modified technique of the Glenn-Anderson procedure. Urethroplasty was performed as a second stage by using Snodgrass technique.
: the Glenn-Anderson procedure is commonly used for correction of incomplete penoscrotal transposition. The aim of this study is evaluation of a modified
