CARCINOMA OF THYROID 1) Papillary adenocarcinoma 60% 2) Follicular carcinoma 17% 3) Anaplastic carcinoma 13% 4) Medullary carcinoma 6% 5) Malignant lymphoma 4% Precancerous lesions: 1) Adenoma of the thyroid. 2) Solitary nodular goitre. 3) Irradiation to the neck in children. 4) Extremely rare after toxic goitre. FFeatures suspicious of malignancy in Giotre: - Solitary nodule in child or old patient. FFeatures suggestive of malignancy: - Dysphagia - Pain referred to the ear (Through theArnold nerve). - Change in voice - Rapid growth - Hard consistency - Fixity. - Absent carotid pulse - Vascularity - Cold nodule in thyroid scan. F Features indicating definite malignancy: 1) Positive biopsy. 2) Seconderies proved to be from thyroid.
