Pathogenesis: Ä Trauma ® splitting of fat into fatty acid and glycerol. Ä Calcium in blood + glycerol and fatty acid will give calcified area in the breast. Ä Hard lump attached to the skin ® dimpling and retraction of nipple Causes: Ä Sustained pressure Ä Direct trauma Ä Needle biopsy Differential Diagnosis: with cancer breast Treatment: Ä Excision biopsy is the only differentiation fromcancer. Ä The excised mass show characteristic chalky white appearance with no gritty sensation.
