TERATOMAS Definition: Tumours of totipotent cells giving rise to all types of tissues in the tumour. ¶ Ectodermal e.g. Hair, seb.gl. & teeth. ¶ Mesodermal e.g. bone and cartilage. ¶ Endodermal e.g. columnar epithelium gl. like str. Common sites: 1- Sacrococcygeal region usually at the birth. 2- Ovary, testis. 3- Occasionally Mediastinal & retroperitoneum. Treatment: Excision or radiotherapy or both.
