¦Aetiology : Fainting or collapse in cases of : 1- In response to fright or other emotions. 2- Painful stimuli e.g. blow to testis or epigastrium . 3- Spinal anasthesia "Spinal shock". 4- Severe injury or head injury. 5- Rapid loss of blood in blood donors . ¦Pathogenesis: 1- Peripheral vasodilatation ®¯ Peripheral resistance . 2- Vagal stimulation ®¯ heart rate . ¦Clinical Picture: 1- Sudden collapse with pale face and cold extremities. 2- Bradycardia with hypotension . 3- Sighing respiration (long deep inspiration). 4- Nausea and vomiting . ¦Treatment: 1- Put the pnt in shock position with raising his feet. µ Only cover the patient by ordinary bed clothes. (9) Charts and repeated observation for: Pulse, Bl. Pr., temp., urine output, CVP. 2- Vasoconstrictors is effective only in this type .
3- Parasympatholytics (Atropine) correct the condition but may cause tachycardia. 4- If symptoms persist give blood and fluids and investigate for acute blood loss.
